Conversation API

On this lesson, you will learn :

  • What is the 24-Hour Policy and its difference with 24+1 Policy
  • Message Tags
  • How to send Promo Messages Outside 24+1 Policy Using Tags

What is the 24-Hour Policy?

  • Businesses and Developers using Send API have up to 24 Hours to respond to a message sent by a person in Messenger using standard messaging.
  • This means that when a user (a personal profile) sends a message to your Page, your messenger Bot will just have 24 hours to respond to that message.
  • Facebook doesn’t want people to be spammed with messages and replies because it will violate Facebook Policy

What is the 24+1 Policy?

  • Same concept but Businesses will have additional 1 day to respond to messages. This policy will just in effect up until March 20, 2020.

What are Message Tags?

  • Message Tags give you the ability to send message to a person outside of the normally allowed 24-Hour window for a limited number of purposes that require continual notification or updates.
  • Facebook is allowing us to send messages to people who sent message to our Pages outside the 24-Hour window period. However, in accordance with Facebook allowed purposes.

(Updated list starting March 4, 2020)

So what are those limited number of purposes?

– CONFIRM_EVENT_UPDATE

– POST_PURCHASE_UPDATE

– ACCOUNT_UPDATE

– HUMAN_AGENT

CONFIRM_EVENT_UPDATE- you’ll only be able to send this if the user has successfully subscribed to an event that you continually do an if you have an event update that the user showed an interest to.

POST_PURCHASE_UPDATE- you’ll only be able to use this tag if user already bought from your store.

ACCOUNT_UPDATE- the user must be subscribed to the account update that you continually share. There must be an agreement between you and the advertiser that you will keep them updated with the status of their account on your platform.

HUMAN_AGENT- you must only send human messages.

Aside from these four purposes, no other messages will be allowed to be sent to customers outside the 24-Hour window.
